Last weeks we have showcased several fotoshoots, think about the fotoshoot we did in Almere with Marijke or the loveshoot with Theo & Mindy ( translated ). You’d almost wonder if I’d find time to go out on the street to meet new people. But I found some nonetheless and it’s time to get back to the basics, back to the streets. That’s where is all happens.

It’s on the streets where people jump into the frame and pose with the mother and her daughter for a picture.

It are the streets where girls want another picture to make sure they look at their absolute best.

It’s the street where mothers persuade their little sons to pose with them for a picture, but the small boy can’t help himself. He has to make a funny face. “Sorry, he always does it” she says, I tell her not to worry, worry when he stops doing it. Boys are boys after all.

The streets are where shopping lasses decide to pose for jokes after a little while hesitating.

On the streets it is where you meet everyday people who honestly wonder why in heaven’s name you want to photograph them. It’s actually funny, there is a serious chance they don’t see the beauty of who they are. They say about snowflakes they’re beautiful and they’re absolutely unique. People are like snowflakes, everyone is beautiful in his or her own way and everyone is absolutely unique. I keep you guys posted if I ever find a duplicate!

Before we digress, lets get back to the streets. It is the place to meet old classmates and see them again. With their families as you can see. These are the moments I wonder how time flies. Now I’m thinking of it, be sure to enjoy the little precious moments with your children especially because time flies and before you realize it they start their own families.

Only on the streets you can meet quiet people and the not so quiet people, and this mister is one of the latter group. He also wondered why I choose him for a portrait.

The streets are where you meet buddies who enjoy the the view, it was market and there is always something to observe.

You meet shopping couples, just take a guess, on the streets.

You also meet couples overjoyed with each other, in no other place than the streets.

It are the streets where you meet your friends with splendid ideas of other and more scenic for photography; I still have to visit it, but I will 😉

The streets are where the people are, everything happens on those very streets. And it are on the streets where I met this lady, her hair caught my eye. Simply because it is beautiful, but when I made contact with her she wasn’t even aware of it! She even disagreed with me when I told her. She cooperated, probably more to do me a favor. She was happy with the results nonetheless and I sincerely hope I could make her feel beautiful. Eric Kim says the following about streetphotography and especially about streetportraits: “Shouldn’t we make our subjects feel beautiful? Shouldn’t we put them in a positive mood? Shouldn’t our photography empower our subjects, and make them feel good about themselves?”

I wholeheartedly agree with him and that’s what I want to pronounce in my potography. Even more so, I would feel unhappy if I caused someone sorrow or make him or her upset just by taking a picture. No matter how good it would be, it simply wouldn’t be worth it.

So for who wondered why I picked them instead of someone else, that’s just because you seemed to be an approachable person and I hope I succeeded in making you smile : )
